Amimide is the combination of furosemide and amiloride that belongs to the class diuretics and is used in the hypertension and oedema. It is generally prescribed for fluid retention in people with congestive heart failure, liver disease or kidney.

Dose and Direction of Use
- Take the tablet orally by mouth.
- Swallow the tablet without any modification to the tablet.
- Follow the dosing schedule and period as per the prescription.
Mode of Action
Furosemide inhibits reabsorption of Na and chloride in the medullary portion of the asccending limb of loop of Henle. It increases plasma renin levels and secondary hyperaldosteronism may result. It reduces BP in hypertensives and in normotensives. Amiloride is a potassium-sparing drug that possesses weak diuretic and antihypertensive activity. Amiloride exerts its potassium-sparing effect through the inhibition of Na reabsorption at the distal convoluted duct, this decreases the net negative potential of the tubular lumen and reduces both K and hydrogen secretion and their subsequent excretion.

Precautions and Warning
