Viroderm is the brand name for the antiviral drug, aciclovir 5% that is primarily used for the treatment of herpes simplex virus infections, chickenpox, and shingles. It can speed up healing of the sores and decrease symptoms.

Dose and Direction of Use
- Cleanse the affected area before applying the medication.
- Apply the thin layer of the cream in the affected area.
- Spread the cream over the affected area so that the infected part is fully covered.
- Do not wash the medicated site.
Mode of Action
It inhibits HSV-1 and HSV-2 replication in cell culture and in vivo. The inhibitory activity of acyclovir is selective due to its affinity for the enzyme thymidine kinase (TK) encoded by HSV. This viral enzyme converts acyclovir into acyclovir monophosphate, a deoxynucleotide analogue.
